Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand was the recipient of an endorsement from End Citizens United. This endorsement was made after a recent announcement by the senator to reject future donations from corporate political action committees. This announcement follows a trend of announcements from political candidates and members of Congress that are rejecting the corporate money. As the issue of big money in politics becomes more and more at the forefront of our national agenda, there are a growing number of politicians who are rejecting donations from mega-donors. In response to this endorsement, the president of End Citizens United Tiffany Muller has stated that this is an example of clear dedication to the people of New York from the senator. Kirsten Gillibrand has first-hand experience into the effects of big money in politics and how it is able to corrupt politicians. This announcement is not out of thin air, but it is something that she has worked for over many years in order to help hold politicians accountable for their actions and ensure a transparent election process. In fact, Kiersten Legrand was one of the first members of Congress that posted her financial disclosures. She posts her personal tax returns online each year and has personally tried to enact policies that would limit the ability of members of Congress to make trades based upon insider information.
